According to the Agriculture Ministry’s Estimates, production of sugarcane in India is pegged on the higher side with 17.14 million tonnes at 354.95 million tonnes during 2014-2015, as compared to its average production of last five years. India’s sugar output has seen an increase of 15 per cent during the current season.
