A 20% rise in export duty has checked the domestic Sugar Prices. As per ISMA, India has exported over 1.6 million tons of sugar so far in 2015-16 marketing year, up 45% from the previous year. Sugar Production is estimated to decline to about 25 MT in 2015-16 marketing year, from 28.3 MT in the previous year while consumption is forecast to rise to a record 27.2 MT.
