Area under soybean in India, the main kharif oilseed crop, registered higher than normal coverage with late rains improving prospects of better yields. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, soybean has been sown on 11.02 million hectares in India, marginally lower than 12.22 million hectares in the same period a year ago.
