A fall in Soybean acreage is certain for the kharif 2016-17 as farmers are giving preference to other crops. The acreage under Kharif 2015 Soybean crop was 110.65 lakh hectares and the production was 69.29 lakh tons against the 87.1 lakh tons in 2014. Recent showers in Maharashtra and Vidarbha has motivated farmers to start sowing in some pockets.
