As per market sources, Iran is likely to produce 22.5 MMT of rice in 2017 compared to 21 MMt in 2016. Iran imports basmati rice from India to meet its additional requirement. In the first 10 months of 2016/17 i.e. from April’ 16 to January’ 17, Iran imported 5.50 LMT of basmati rice from India.
