As per data released by ministry of Agriculture on 23rd June, this year paddy sowing is 4% higher than the corresponding period of last year. So far 16.70 lakh hectares has been sown as compared to 15.97 lakh hectares sown at the same time last year. Sowing has started in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Haryana and Punjab.
