As on May 26, paddy has been transplanted in an area of 1.75 lakh hectares as compared to 1.76 lakh hectares sown at the same time last year. Paddy sowing is expected to pick up pace with the monsoon showers across India. Normal area under paddy sowing is around 392.79 lakh hectares in the country.
