The Thai government still owes around 750 billion baht ($23.3 billion) in debt related to a money guzzling state rice buying scheme, the state bank that helped manage the scheme said. Losses related to the scheme were estimated by the Finance Ministry at 320 billion baht at the end of May and were expected to rise substantially.
