Rice is major cereal crop in India. Rice sowing and transplanting is getting pick-up in key producing states. As per reports received from States to Agriculture Ministry, India’s total rice sown and transplanted area in 2015-16 as on 17th July, stands at 132.11 lakh hectares as compared to 126.55 at this time last year.
