Myanmar`s harvesting of the 2014 main (wet) season rice crop, which accounts for about 80 percent of annual production, is expected to start at beginning of October and continue into December. Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) forecasts the aggregate 2014 rice production at 29.5 million tonnes, 3% up from last year.
