Sowing of the rabi maize in Bihar (major maize producing state) was at 141,000 ha, up a whopping 781.3% from 16,000 hectares planted in the year ago at the same period, according to the recent updates of Agriculture Ministry. Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra are the major maize producing states in India.
