Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Karnataka, Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh are the major maize producing states in India. Maize crop assumes a special significance, as it is utilized as food, feed and fodder. Maize is the major source of starch (71 to 72 percent) which can be converted in to glucose and fructose.
