Prevailing humid weather condition is congenial for incidence of stem borer in maize in Southern states. Sowing of the rabi maize in Bihar (major maize producer) was at 141,000 hectares, up a whopping 781.3% from 16,000 hectares planted in the year ago at the same period, according to the recent updates of Agriculture Ministry.
