Maize prices have shown some weakness in the futures and  spot markets on reports of the Govt. allowing imports, acc. to the US Grains Council. There has been some agreement that tariff rate quota may be allocated to state run trading company PEC to import 500,000 tonne. Prices have shot up by over 20% to Rs. 1900 a quintal from a year ago.
