In an ongoing Rabi season, Maize area is up 6.5% at 10.15 lakh hectares as compared to 9.536 lakh hectares sown at the same time last year. Normal in season area of Maize is 15.62 lakh hectares in the country. Bihar is the largest producer of Rabi Maize. As on December 2’ 2016, Maize has been sown in an area of 2.22 lakh hectares in Bihar.
