As on 5th August 2016, Maize has been sown in an area of 79.45 lh that is up by more than 12% from last year acreage of 70.37 lh This year, Maize area is also up by 8% than the normal in season area of 73.50 lh. Acreage in five largest producer Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Telangana stand at 12.14, 11.43, 9.60, 7.59 and 5.40 lakh hectares respectively.
