As on 23rd September 2016, Maize has been sown in an area of 83.89 lakh hectares that is up by more than 9% from last year acreage of 76.73 lakh hectares. This year, Maize area is also up by 14% than the normal in season area of 73.50 lakh hectares. Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Telangana are the major producer.
