The jute cultivation and jute industry suffered huge losses due to floods in West Bengal last year. Due to these floods the production of jute has become short. It is one of the major cause of concern for the government that the price of jute, which is one of the cheapest items that India produces, is rising continuously, according to a senior official in the Ministry of Textiles.
