India, Bangladesh, China and Thailand are the leading producers of Jute. West Bengal is the major jute producing states in India. Cultivation of Jute in the country is mainly confined to the eastern region states. The two main types of jute, white jute (Corchorus Capsularies)and dark jute or tossa (Corchorus Olitorius) are grown in Indian states.
