As per sources, this year Guar area in Haryana is likely to fall as farmers are sowing cotton in hopes of better realization. Minimum support prices of cotton can be increased by Rs. 160 per quintal. Around 3.81 lakh hectares has been sown with cotton in last three weeks and if the sowing crosses the target area of government i.e. 6.35 lakh hectares, it will lead to reduction in area sown for guar.
