Among oilseeds, on account of decline in area and productivity in Gujarat state, total production of groundnut in the country has suffered considerably and declined to 5.02 million tonnes as compared to its record production of 7.81 million tonnes during 2013-2014 year. Gujarat is the major groundnut producing state.
