The area sown under Cotton as on August 26, 2016 is 102.78 lakh hectares, down by 8.79% compared to 112.68 lakh hectares sown during the corresponding period of last year. This year Cotton sowing is down by 14.6% from the normal area under Cotton cultivation in the country. Normal area under Cotton is 120.34 lakh hectares.
