Recent data from Agriculture Ministry of India showed that the area under cotton has increased to a record 126.55 lakh hectares this year against 114.37 lakh hectares last year. Cotton prices are seen under pressure as domestic production next season is expected at a new high of over 375 lakh bales, according to the Cotton Advisory Board.
