Maharashtra is the major cotton producing state in India. Vidharbh is the key cotton belt in Maharashtra. This year area under cotton in Maharashtra is around 42 lakh ha. Presently cotton prices in the major markets were up to Rs 4000 per quintal which is below the MSP. Government declared cotton MSP at Rs 4050 per quintal.
