International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC) has revised world cotton consumption downward from initial projections to 24.4 million tons, less than 1% from 2014-15. In October 2015 report, International Monetary Fund lowered its forecast for world economic growth in 2015 to 3.1%. India is world’s second largest consumer of cotton lint.
