In its first estimate, the Cotton Association of India (CAI) has pegged the cotton output for the year starting October 2016 at 336 lakh bales of 170 kg each. In the current year, Cotton production has pegged at 337.75 lakh baes (as of July end). As per the CAI, productivity is likely to be higher during the 2016-17 seasons due to better weather conditions across all growing regions.
