Cotton sown area in 2015-16 was 119 lakh hectares, however it is reported that it comes down to about 105 to 110 lakh ha. After a deficient June, Monsoon progress well in the month of July and covered almost entire country. During the first week of July, good rains have been recorded in Cotton growing areas. With monsoon progress and good rain cotton sowing has also picked up.
