Cotton sowing is running behind the schedule as till 22nd July, Only 86.86 lh has been sown as compared to 99.52 lh sown at the same time last year. Last year farmers incurred heavy crop loss due to white fly pest attack in cotton. Gujarat, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh accounts for 75% production of cotton. Cotton production for the year 2015-16 is 305 lakh bales.
