Cotton is sown on 75.41 lh versus 93.22 lh sown at the same time last year. Cotton acreage has fallen because farmers in Punjab & Haryana were apprehensive and reluctant, given that whitefly pest attack had massively damaged their crop last year. Delayed Monsoon in the Central & Southern parts was also one of the reasons for less coverage.
