Cotton area in Punjab and Haryana has declined 27% to 7.56 lakh ha in 2016/17 crop year against 10.30 lakh ha in 2015-16. Farmers were scared to grow cotton fearing white fly pest attack. As it had damaged the crop massively in these two states last year. Currently Cotton prices are ruling high at spot.
