As per the reports received from States to Agriculture Ministry, India’s total cotton sown area in 2015-16 as on 31st July, stands at 101.91 lakh hectares as compared to 104.84 lakh hectares at this time last year. Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh are the major cotton producing states in the country.
