As per the reports received from States to Agriculture Ministry of India country's total cotton sown area in 2015-16 as on 26th June, stands at 34.87 lakh hectares as compared to 29.07 lakh hectares at this time last year. Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka are the major cotton producing states in India.
