As per the reports received from States to central Agriculture Ministry, India’s total cotton sown area in 2015-16 as on 12th June, stands at 14.30 lakh hectares as compared to 17.34 lakh hectares at this time last year. Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka are the major cotton producing states in India.
