As per latest estimate by Government, Cotton is planted in 96.5 lh in the country, down by 8.7% against 105.7 lh last year as on 5 August. Cotton sowing progress increased by more than 4.5% on w-o-w basis due to good progress of monsoon rains. This year cotton farmers in the country has shifted to some other remunerative crops such as Pulses.
