As on 26th August 2016, Cotton has been sown in an area of 102.78 lh that is down by more than 8% from last year acreage of 112.68 lh. This year, cotton area is down by 15% than the normal in season area of 120.34 lakh hectares. Acreage in three largest producer Maharashtra, Gujarat and Telangana stand at 39.00, 23.65 and 12.50 lakh hectares respectively.
