According to the International Cotton Advisory Committee(ICAC), world cotton production in 2014-15 is estimated at 26.4 million tons, up 1% from the previous season, while world average yield decreased 2% to 791 kg/hectare. In India, area grew 5% to 12.3 million hectares in 2014-15, which is the largest area planted with cotton on record.
