According to International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC), world cotton production in 2014-15 is estimated at 26.4 million tons, up 1 percent from the previous season, while world average yield decreased 2 percent to 791 kg per hectare. In India, cotton area grew 5% to 12.3 million hectares in 2014-15, which is the largest area planted on record.
