The monetary council of the Brazilian government said it approved 4.6 billion reais ($1.3 billion) in funding for the coffee sector in the 2016 season, up from 4.14 billion reais during the 2015 for financing producers and cooperatives. The funds will be administered by Funcafe, a fund which allocates subsidized credit for the country’s coffee sector.
