Presently chickpea or chana crop is in early growth stage in the key producing states of North India. In some area incidence of Heliothis pest is noticed. According to Indian farm ministry, area under sowing of chickpea at 54.61 lakh hectare this year which is behind last year’s figure of 64.76 lakh hectare during the same week.
