In the prevailing weather conditions, there are chances of attack of pod borer in chickpea crop. Chickpea has been sown in India over 81.98 lakh hectares which is less 16.5 % as compared to last year’s 98.16 lakh hectares. Considering favorable weather conditions, chana production in India to hover around 84-86 lakh tonnes in 2014-15.
