Chickpea, with a production of more than 7 million tonnes, contributes more than 41 percent in the total pulse production of the country. Considering deficit in rainfall for 2015-16, it is expected that the production of pulses for the year would decrease marginally to 17 million tonnes as against 17.2 million tonnes recorded in the season of 2014-15.
