Chickpea harvesting is going on key producing states. India is the world's largest producer of pulses, but domestic demand outstrips production and the shortfall is met from imports. India's pulses imports has risen considerably by 0.73 million tons (MT) to 5.31 MT till February 11 of this fiscal year as compare to 4.58 MT in the entire 2014-15 fiscal.
