Chickpea crop is in vegetative stage in the key producing states of India. Incidence of heliothis pest is observed in the Vidharbha region of the Maharashtra. Chickpea were sown on 7.15 million hectares across the states of India, down 16.6% compared with 8.58 million hectares sown a year ago, according to the agriculture ministry.
