Chana production is estimated to drop by 2.2% or to 71.7 lakh tones in 2015-16. Chana production is revised down from 74.8 lt forecasted in the third advanced estimate in May’ 16. In third estimate, the production was pegged higher compared to last year mainly due to good weather conditions during harvesting but the final production was lower due to lower yield.
