Chana prices rose sharply following 15% drop in production last year and 25% the year before. As per IPGA, India imported almost all the Chana that was available internationally, with imports doubling in Oct 2015-Jan 2016 over that a year ago. India imported more than 8 lakh tonnes of Chana during this period, mostly from Australia as there was a 40% increase in production.
