Area under sowing of chickpea or chana in India was down to 8.19 million hectares, against the last year’s figure of 9.86 million hectares, according to the recent data released by Indian agriculture ministry. Chana is the major rabi-pulse crop in India. Presently chana crop is in pod development stage in key producing states of India.
