Area under sowing of chickpea or chana in India was down to 85.31 lakh hectares, against the last year’s figure of 100.51 lakh hectares, according to the recent data released by agriculture ministry. Area coverage under Total Pulses in India is at 145.92 lakh hectares while the last year’s sowing area coverage was 162.21 lakh ha.
