Higher demand pushed up castor seed prices in the Rajkot spot market of Gujarat state. Moreover, speculative buying at the lower level also supported the rise in castor price in the Indian futures market. According to the traders, expectation of export demand for castor oil encouraged the mills to buy more castor seed.
