Till July end, total coverage under castor was reported 1.04 lakh hectares against last year's area of 1.21 lakh hectares. Lower coverage and farmers sowing intention show the possibility of 25% lower acreage in Gujarat. In Rajasthan too, area is expected to decline by 5-6% from normal of 2.15 lakh hectares. So far, area lags behind by 14% on all India basis.
