As per the Solvent Extractor’s Association of India, India is likely to produce 25% down castor seed in 2016/17 as compared to 2015/16. This year farmers have shifted castor seed area to some other remunerative crops. Total area under castor seed cultivation stands 5.65 lakh hectares in Gujarat and 1.70 lakh hectares in Rajasthan.
